Where Is the LinearMouse Config File?

LinearMouse reads linearmouse.json from the linearmouse config folder. Pointer speed and scrolling live per device.

Last updated

LinearMouse keeps one JSON file in its XDG style config folder on Mac. Scrolling direction, pointer speed, and button mappings split by device matcher inside it. The settings UI edits the same file.

Per mouse profiles make the file grow with each paired device. Hand edits need valid JSON and a restarted app. The settings UI writes the same file, so both paths stay in sync. The folder is the complete backup unit with no side state. Acceleration curves preview live as sliders move in settings. Device disconnections keep profiles for next pairing.

Where LinearMouse stores this, by platform

macOS
/Users/<username>/.config/linearmouse/linearmouse.json

Main config in JSON. Per device scrolling, speed, and buttons. Restart the app after hand edits.
