Where Does Maccy Store Clipboard History?
Maccy stores clips in Maccy.sqlite under Application Support and prefs in its plist beside it.
Last updated
Maccy splits state two ways. Clipboard history lives in ~/Library/Application Support/Maccy/Maccy.sqlite, a single SQLite file with every clip plus pins. Preferences live separately in ~/Library/Preferences/org.p0deje.Maccy.plist, readable via defaults commands.
Older sandboxed builds used a Containers path instead, so very old guides point elsewhere. Current builds use the direct Application Support path. Whatever the version, quit Maccy before copying; the database is locked while running.
Where Maccy stores this, by platform
~/Library/Application Support/Maccy
Maccy.sqlite holds clips and pins up to your size limit; the plist holds settings. Quit before backup. Very old builds used the Containers sandbox twin.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up my Maccy history?
Quit Maccy, copy ~/Library/Application Support/Maccy somewhere safe, and restore by swapping it back with Maccy quit. Pinned items travel inside the same database. iCloud sync covers this automatically if enabled.
Why is the Maccy database hundreds of megabytes?
Images. A screenshot clip runs megabytes against kilobytes for text, and the SQLite file grows fast. Exclude images in Preferences > Appearance, or lower the history size in Settings > Storage.
