Where Are Marvel Rivals Settings Stored?

Where Marvel Rivals keeps GameUserSettings.ini on PC, and why progress can never be backed up that way.

Last updated

Marvel Rivals keeps PC settings in GameUserSettings.ini under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Marvel\Saved\Config\Windows. Resolution, quality, keybinds and the mouse smoothing flags all live there. Copying that one file migrates your setup to a second machine.

Progress is a different story: there is no local save at all. Ranks and unlocks are server side, so settings guides that promise save backups are selling the wrong file. Some installs use a MarvelRivals folder name instead of Marvel; check both if the first path comes up empty.

Where Marvel Rivals stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Marvel\Saved\Config\Windows\GameUserSettings.ini

Paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\Marvel\Saved\Config\Windows into Explorer. Mouse fixes go in GameUserSettings.ini under [/Script/Engine.InputSettings]. If the Marvel folder is absent, look for MarvelRivals beside it: some builds use that name.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2767030/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Marvel/Saved/Config/Windows/GameUserSettings.ini

Proton path for app ID 2767030. Same Marvel vs MarvelRivals naming split applies. Edit with the game closed or Proton overwrites your changes on exit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up my Marvel Rivals rank and unlocks?

You cannot. Heroes, ranks, skins and stats live on NetEase servers against your account, with no local file involved. Reinstalling or switching PCs loses nothing but graphics settings. Guard the account, not a folder.

My Marvel Rivals settings reset every launch. How do I lock them?

Right-click GameUserSettings.ini, open Properties and tick Read-only after configuring the game. The game then loads your file but cannot rewrite it. Untick to change settings again later. Close the game fully before toggling.
