Where Are Mass Effect Legendary Edition Saves Located?

Legendary Edition stores all three games' saves as .pcsav files in a BioWare folder under Documents, one folder per game.

Legendary Edition keeps the original trilogy's BioWare folder habit. Each game gets a Save subfolder with per character directories inside, and every save is a .pcsav file with a timestamp that matches the in game clock.

The location surprises Steam players who check every folder except the right one. It is Documents BioWare, not My Games, not Saved Games, not AppData. Search *.pcsav when lost: those files exist nowhere else on a normal system.

Where Mass Effect Legendary Edition stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save

ME1, ME2, and ME3 subfolders each hold per character saves as .pcsav files. OneDrive redirection and Controlled Folder Access are the classic write blockers here.

Frequently asked questions

Saves vanish or refuse to write. What blocks them?

The game cannot write where Documents now points, either from OneDrive redirection or Windows Controlled Folder Access blocking it. Whitelist the game in ransomware protection and confirm the BioWare path exists and is writable.

Do choices carry across the trilogy?

Yes, by design. Finishing ME1 unlocks an import prompt in ME2 that reads the ME1 folder, and ME2 feeds ME3 the same way. Keep all three folders intact or the chain breaks at the missing link.
