Where Does Mecha Break Store Settings?

Mecha Break's registry settings key on Windows and why progress has no local save file.

Last updated

Mecha Break keeps local settings in the Windows registry rather than an INI file, under a xishanju key for Mecha BREAK. There is no local save folder to back up because match progress, unlocks and loadouts live server side.

That split simplifies migration. Moving PCs means reconfiguring graphics once, then logging in. Your mechs and ranks follow the account through Steam or Xbox Cloud instead of any file copy.

Where Mecha Break stores this, by platform

Windows
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\xishanju\Mecha BREAK

Local graphics and input settings in the registry. Export the key before reinstalls if you want to preserve tweaks. Delete it to force clean defaults.

Linux
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2452280/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Software/xishanju/Mecha BREAK

Registry hive inside the Proton prefix for AppID 2452280, mirrored from the Windows key. Progress still syncs from servers, so this only matters for local settings.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my Mecha Break save file?

There is not one. The game stores progress server side and only settings locally in the registry. Backing up files will never carry ranks or unlocks.

How do I fully reset Mecha Break settings?

Close the game, remove the xishanju Mecha BREAK registry key, and relaunch. The game rebuilds defaults while your account progress stays untouched.
