Where Does MediaElch Store Settings and NFO Files?

MediaElch keeps settings under a kvibes folder per OS with NFO sidecars next to your media, plus an optional advanced file.

Last updated

MediaElch separates its own settings from your library metadata. App settings live in the per-OS kvibes folder. Movie data lives as NFO files beside the videos for Kodi and friends.

That split makes the library portable by itself. NFOs travel with the media folders anywhere. Only the kvibes folder needs copying for scraper logins and renamer profiles.

Where MediaElch stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\kvibes\MediaElch

Settings under Local AppData kvibes folder. Optional advancedsettings.xml beside the binary. NFO sidecars stay with media files for Kodi.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/kvibes/MediaElch

Settings under Application Support kvibes folder. Same advancedsettings.xml options. Unsigned builds may need a security exception on first run.

Linux
~/.local/share/kvibes/MediaElch

Settings under the XDG data home kvibes folder. Same layout otherwise. NFO files beside media keep the library portable across machines.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move MediaElch to a new computer?

Copy the kvibes settings folder to the new machine. It holds scrapers, renamer profiles, and UI state. NFO files already beside your media need no moving.

Where is the MediaElch advanced settings file?

Create advancedsettings.xml by hand in the settings folder or beside the binary. It overrides defaults the UI does not expose. The docs list every supported key.
