Where Are Morrowind Save Files Located?

Morrowind stores saves as .ess files in a Saves folder inside the install dir, e.g. steamapps/common/Morrowind/Saves. Morrowind.ini sits beside it, with resolution and display settings partly in the registry instead. Steam Cloud syncs up to 100 files.
The 2002 vintage shows: the game folder needs write access, so Program Files installs often need admin runs or a move. OpenMW uses its own config and save spots entirely, so vanilla and OpenMW saves do not mix without conversion.

.ess files here, Morrowind.ini one level up. Run as admin or relocate out of Program Files when settings refuse to save. GOG and retail share the same inner layout.
