Where Does NanaZip Store Settings?

NanaZip keeps settings in HKCU\Software\NanaZip like 7-Zip does, with admin policies under HKLM\Software\Policies.

Last updated

NanaZip stores its settings in the registry, not in an INI file. That surprises people coming from portable archivers. The layout follows 7-Zip closely since NanaZip is a fork, only the vendor key name changed.

Per-user choices sit under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Machine-wide enforcement for admins lives separately under HKLM policies and overrides the user values. Portable-style installs still write to HKCU, so there is no folder to copy.

Where NanaZip stores this, by platform

Windows
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NanaZip

Per-user settings. FM subkey holds file manager view options, Options holds general behavior. Close NanaZip before importing a .reg backup.

Windows
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\M2Team\NanaZip

Admin-only overrides introduced with NanaZip 6.0 policies. Values here win over the HKCU user settings.

Frequently asked questions

Where are NanaZip settings in the registry?

Open regedit and look under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NanaZip. That tree mirrors the classic 7-Zip layout, with FM for file manager options and Options for general ones.

Can I migrate NanaZip settings like 7-Zip?

Yes. NanaZip is a 7-Zip fork and reads the same style of keys under its own vendor name. Export HKCU\Software\NanaZip and import it on the other PC while NanaZip is closed.
