Where Are Oblivion Remastered Save Files Located?
Where Oblivion Remastered puts saves under My Games, and how OneDrive splits them across two folders.
Last updated
Oblivion Remastered stores saves in Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames, with config beside them in Config\Windows. That part is ordinary Unreal Engine layout and matches most modern ports.
The extraordinary part is OneDrive. The game does not respect a relocated Documents folder, so OneDrive users end up with two candidate trees (local and OneDrive) and Steam Cloud watching only one. Saves land in the tree you are not looking at, which reads exactly like vanishing progress.
Where Oblivion Remastered stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames
Paste %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames into Explorer. Also check the OneDrive mirror: OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered. Merge to one folder with the game closed.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2623190/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Oblivion Remastered/Saved/SaveGames
Proton path for app ID 2623190. The Steam root varies, so search under compatdata/2623190 if this misses. Deck to PC moves are plain folder copies once both sides are found.
Frequently asked questions
My saves exist but the game cannot see them. How do I fix it?
The game ignores moved Documents folders and writes to the default local path, while Steam Cloud looks at your actual (possibly OneDrive) Documents. Copy saves from the OneDrive tree into the local tree (or vice versa) with the game closed, then keep one canonical copy.
I checked every path and found nothing. Now what?
Create a character with a distinctive name, save, then search the whole PC for that name. The save file carries the character name, so search finds the live folder when every documented path comes up empty. Open the containing folder from the search result.
