Where Are Paper Trail Save Files Located?

Paper Trail keeps everything in one Unity folder per OS. On Windows it is LocalLow Newfangled Paper Trail, on Mac it is Application Support Newfangled Paper Trail. Each chapter save is a .save file, with settings.save beside them.
The layout makes manual backup simple. Copy the whole folder with the game closed. On Linux through Proton the same Windows tree appears under compatdata for app 1889740, and Steam Cloud syncs the desktop copies.

Chapter saves plus settings.save in one folder. Copy the whole Newfangled Paper Trail directory with the game closed to back up progress and options together.

Can I transfer a Paper Trail save between PC and Mac?
Yes. Copy the .save files between the Windows LocalLow folder and the Mac Application Support folder. The format is shared, only the parent path changes. Keep a backup until the moved save loads.
What is settings.save in the Paper Trail folder?
That file holds options, not progress. Progress lives in the other .save files beside it. Deleting settings.save resets options while leaving chapter progress alone.
