Where Does PikaOS Store Repos and Package Cache?

PikaOS manages Debian Sid packages through APT sources plus Flatpak. Repo files and cache paths here.

Last updated

PikaOS builds on Debian Sid with its own repo layer for gaming packages. Repo entries with a pika prefix sit in the standard sources directory beside the base Debian lines, all installed through the pika-sources package. Package archives cache in the usual APT location, and the pikman updater handles system updates plus Flatpak in one pass.

Snapshot support is opt-in rather than default, so fresh installs carry no snapshots until snapper is installed and configured with the distro hooks. When disk space runs low, the clean form of the updater drops the archive cache without touching repo definitions. Keep the repo files intact and clear only the cache.

Where PikaOS stores this, by platform

Linux
/etc/apt/sources.list.d

APT repo files with pika- prefix from pika-sources, beside base Debian lines. Cache in the standard archives dir; clean via pikman clean.

Frequently asked questions

Where are PikaOS repository files?

Look in /etc/apt/sources.list.d for pika-*.sources files from the pika-sources package. Base Debian lines sit beside them. The updater pikman wraps APT plus Flatpak in one pass.

How do I free space or enable snapshots on PikaOS?

Run pikman clean to drop the APT archive cache. Snapper snapshots are opt-in only and need manual snapper setup plus refind hooks. No snapshots exist on default installs.
