Where Does PixPin Store Data and Screenshots?

PixPin keeps its local data under %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\PixPin\Data on Windows and ~/Library/Application Support/PixPin on Mac.

Last updated

PixPin centralizes its local state in a Data directory: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\PixPin\Data on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/PixPin/ on macOS. Config, history and the screenshot record live there.

Your actual captures are a separate question. The save dialog path, the Quick Save folder and any auto-save folder are set on the Config > Save page, and those folders survive both reinstalls and uninstalls. Back up the Data directory before migrating machines, then re-point the save folders on the new one.

Where PixPin stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\PixPin\Data

Official FAQ names this as the data to back up before reinstalling. Crash logs (pixpin.log plus a Crashpad folder) sit one level up, directly under %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\PixPin.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/PixPin/

Same role as the Windows Data folder: config and history. Your Quick Save and auto-save folders are configured separately on the Config > Save page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change where PixPin saves screenshots?

Open Config, then the Save page, and set the Quick Save folder there. Pair it with a custom action and a shortcut for one-press screenshot plus save to that folder.

Does uninstalling PixPin delete my saved screenshots?

No. PixPin leaves Quick Save and auto-save folders alone on uninstall, so reinstall and point the Save page back at the same folders. Still, export a backup from Config before major surgery.
