Where Are Project Winter Save Files Located?

Project Winter splits saves between a LocalLow folder and the registry, with Steam Cloud mirroring both halves.

Last updated

Project Winter keeps files in a LocalLow folder under the OtherOcean name and settings in a registry key of the same name. Steam Cloud mirrors the set under the game's AppID.

Two-location saves mean half-backups. The folder holds what files hold and the registry holds the rest, so a complete migration copies both. Export the key through regedit and copy the folder, then import and paste on the new machine before first launch.

Where Project Winter stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\OtherOcean\ProjectWinter

File half of progress under LocalLow. Copy with the game closed; Steam Cloud syncs the same tree under AppID 774861.

Windows
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\OtherOcean\ProjectWinter

Settings half in the registry. Export through regedit for migration; deleting it resets options without touching the file half.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/774861/pfx/

Proton prefix for the Windows build (AppID 774861). Both the LocalLow folder and the registry key live inside the prefix.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move everything to a new PC?

Copy both halves with the game closed: the LocalLow folder and an export of the registry key. Either half alone restores only part of your progress.
