Where Does Provenance Store ROMs and Saves on iPhone?
Provenance ROM imports, BIOS, saves and save states folders on iPhone and iPad.
Last updated
Provenance exposes its Documents folder to the Files app. Imports is the inbox. Drop ROMs and BIOS files there and the app sorts them on next launch.
Saves split into two places. In-game battery saves sit in Battery. Save states sit in Save States. Both link by exact ROM filename, so renames break the link silently.
Where Provenance stores this, by platform
On My iPhone/Provenance/Imports
Files app inbox for ROMs and BIOS files. Battery holds in-game saves, Save States holds states, BIOS holds system files. Per-system data sits in com.provenance folders beside them. Reachable through Finder Files tab and the built-in web server too.
Frequently asked questions
My save is missing after renaming a ROM. Why?
Match the save filename to the ROM filename exactly and keep both in the linked folders. Renaming a ROM orphans its Battery save and save states. Check the per-system com.provenance folder when a save seems missing.
How do I add ROMs without iTunes?
Open the Files app to Provenance, or use Finder on Mac and the Files tab for the device. The built-in web server at the device IP on port 81 accepts uploads into Imports over the local network.
