Where Does Reliability Monitor Store Its Data?
Where Reliability Monitor keeps its stability database on Windows, and how to reset corrupt history.
Last updated
Reliability Monitor draws its chart from a database under ProgramData: the RAC store with stability records plus event sourced details. The view itself lives in Control Panel and Settings, but the data is file based.
History gaps trace to the scheduled RAC task or wrapped event logs, not the chart. Reset by deleting the database with the task stopped; Windows recreates it on boot. Keep a screenshot when the timeline supports a warranty claim.
Where Windows stores this, by platform
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\RAC
Stability database plus state under ProgramData RAC. Needs admin rights to browse. Stop the RacTask before deleting; reboot recreates an empty store.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset Reliability Monitor history?
Stop the RAC task, delete the database files, and reboot. Windows rebuilds an empty history and starts collecting again. Old stability scores are gone for good, so export the chart first when the history matters.
Why does Reliability Monitor show no data?
The monitor reads the same application and system event logs as Event Viewer, then scores them. Missing days usually mean the RAC task is disabled or the log wrapped. Check Task Scheduler for the RacTask entry.
