Where Does ReShade Store Shaders and Config?
Where ReShade keeps ReShade.ini, presets and the reshade-shaders folder for each game on PC.
Last updated
ReShade has no global settings folder. Everything lives next to the game executable you installed it into: ReShade.ini, the preset .ini files and usually a reshade-shaders subfolder. That keeps games independent, so updating shaders for one never breaks another.
Open the in-game overlay to change EffectSearchPaths and TextureSearchPaths. Manual edits to ReShade.ini need a game restart. If a BasePath override or RESHADE_BASE_PATH_OVERRIDE is set, relative paths resolve from there instead of the game folder.
Where ReShade stores this, by platform
<game folder>\ReShade.ini
ReShade.ini sits beside the game exe (or beside the renamed ReShade DLL). Presets are .ini files in the same folder unless PresetPath points elsewhere. Shaders default to .\reshade-shaders\Shaders and textures to .\reshade-shaders\Textures. Portable installs and per-game copies each keep their own set.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my settings not carry over to another game?
No. Every game folder has its own ReShade.ini and preset. Copy the preset .ini to the other game folder and set its EffectSearchPaths to match, then pick it in the overlay.
Can I share one shader folder across all games?
Yes. Point EffectSearchPaths and TextureSearchPaths at one shared folder in the overlay settings. Keep the per-game ReShade.ini and DLL where they are, since the game only loads those locally.
