Where Are Sable Save Files Located?

Where Sable keeps its SaveData folder on PC, and which files to zip for a full Steam backup or share.

Last updated

Sable stores runs in a SaveData folder under its LocalLow company tree on Windows. Files use a sable_data prefix with numeric suffixes, plus manager subfolders for saves and settings. Graphics choices live partly in the registry.

Steam, GOG and Epic builds share this path, while the Store build uses its own container. Copying the whole Shedworks folder is the sane backup since runs and settings travel together. Close the game first so open files flush cleanly. Mask and quest flags share the run files, so splitting them across backups breaks loads.

Where Sable stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Shedworks\Sable\SaveData

Holds SaveData with numbered run files plus save and settings manager folders. Same path for Steam, GOG and Epic. Store builds use a Packages container instead.

Frequently asked questions

Which Sable file is my actual run?

Zip the whole Shedworks Sable tree from LocalLow. It holds SaveData with the run files plus the settings manager. The numeric suffix on each run file marks one playthrough, and the PNG beside it is just a thumbnail.

My Sable save corrupted after a crash. How do I recover?

Restore the SaveData backup with Steam Cloud off, then launch once to let the game accept it. Cloud sync can push the broken copy back over a manual fix. Keep the backup until the restored run loads past the crash point.
