Where Does Samsung Wallet Store Cards and Passes?

Samsung Wallet holds cards, passes, keys, and passwords in the app, synced to your Samsung account. Health passes stay on one device.

Last updated

Samsung Wallet merged Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass into one app. Payment cards, memberships, gift cards, boarding passes, digital keys, and passwords all live there, backed by your Samsung account. Cards surface through Quick Access with a swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Losing the phone is handled through SmartThings Find, which can lock Wallet remotely and suspend transactions until you re-verify. The sharp edge is health passes: those are device-only by design and Samsung never uploads them, so screenshots of the QR source are your only backup.

Private app data. Exact folder names may vary by version, so use the in-app menus. Enable sync under Settings > Account and syncing, and move phones with Smart Switch rather than file copies.

Frequently asked questions

Does Samsung Wallet transfer to a new phone?

Yes for most items through your Samsung account sync, and Smart Switch carries the app shell to a new phone. Payment cards still need reactivation with the issuer on the new device. Health passes never transfer at all, since Samsung keeps them strictly on-device.

How do I back up Samsung Pass passwords?

Open Samsung Wallet, tap the menu, then Settings, then Account and syncing, and confirm sync is on. For passwords specifically there is an export to CSV or spass file under Import and export Samsung Pass data. Keep that file somewhere safe, since it holds everything in the clear.
