Where Does the SMA Energy App Store Data?
SMA Energy keeps plant data in private storage on Android and iOS while Sunny Portal classic was removed in 2021.
Last updated
SMA makes inverters and moved from Sunny Portal classic to the SMA Energy app. The current Android build uses the sma.energy package. Private storage under that package holds the login session with plant cache and yield chart cache. That local data mirrors plants tied to the SMA account.
Plants and yields live server side rather than on the phone. A fresh login after reinstall restores plants on the current app. The classic package kept separate historic data and was removed in 2021. Installer access returns through the same account on the new install. iOS ties to App Store ID 1476822720.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Sunny Portal?
Install SMA Energy at de.sma.energy for current plants. Sunny Portal classic at com.sunnyportal.ui was removed in 2021 with separate historic data. The same SMA login works in the current app and restores plants.
Do SMA plants transfer phones?
Log into the same SMA account on the new phone. Plants sync from SMA servers and return after login. Local data holds only session state and yield chart cache. That cache does not need to move between phones.
