Where Does Stash Store Config and Database?
Where Stash keeps config.yml, the SQLite database, plugins and generated files.
Last updated
Stash centers on one directory: config.yml for options and credentials, stash-go.sqlite for the database, plus plugins, scrapers and backups children. Generated previews, sprites and transcoded blobs fan out into their own mounts.
Docker maps ./config to /root/.stash with data, metadata, cache, blobs and generated as siblings. Native installs default to ~/.stash or the working directory. Plugin configs live as name.yml files in plugins.
Where Stash stores this, by platform
~/.stash/
Config root with config.yml, stash-go.sqlite, plugins and scrapers. Docker maps it to /root/.stash with media mounts beside it. Reset logins by clearing credential lines while stopped.
Frequently asked questions
How do I migrate Stash to a new server?
Copy the whole config directory (config.yml, stash-go.sqlite, plugins, scrapers) to the new host volume. Backups default beside the database unless configured otherwise in settings.
I forgot my Stash login. How do I reset it?
Delete the username and password lines from config.yml while Stash is stopped, then restart and log in fresh. The docs document exactly this recovery for lost credentials.
