Where Are Supreme Commander Save Files Located?

Supreme Commander keeps saves and mission replays in hidden LocalAppData, surprisingly far from Documents.

Last updated

Supreme Commander stores saves in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Gas Powered Games\SupremeCommander\savegames, with replays beside them and preferences in Game.prefs. Nothing lives in Documents despite every instinct saying otherwise.

Forged Alliance splits off its own tree, so complete backups need both siblings. Copy the Gas Powered Games folder whole with the game closed, and label which tree is which. Linux runs through Proton under app ID 9350 with the mirrored LocalAppData layout. Copy the Gas Powered Games folder whole with the game closed.

Where Supreme Commander stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Gas Powered Games\SupremeCommander\savegames

Saves, replays and Game.prefs in LocalAppData, not Documents. Forged Alliance keeps a sibling tree; back up both. FAF players keep the same layout.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/9350/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Gas Powered Games/SupremeCommander/savegames

Same LocalAppData-relative layout inside the Proton prefix for app 9350. Copy both sibling trees together.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Supreme Commander to a new PC?

Copy the Gas Powered Games tree for saves, replays and Game.prefs together. Forged Alliance keeps its own sibling tree, so grab both when moving a complete install.

Where are Supreme Commander replays?

Replace the savegames leg with replays in the same parent. Both live side by side, and the folder names are the only difference. Sort by date to find recent casts.
