Where Does Suwayomi-Server Store Its Data?

Suwayomi keeps server.conf (HOCON) plus downloads and the H2 database in its data dir. Linux uses ~/.local/share/Tachidesk.

Last updated

Suwayomi stores everything in one data directory: server.conf in HOCON format, the library database (embedded H2 by default, optional Postgres), downloaded chapters, installed extensions, and logs. Bare installs follow the OS: ~/.local/share/Tachidesk on Linux, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tachidesk on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/Tachidesk on macOS. The rootDir flag overrides all of it.

Docker runs as a non-root user with the data at /home/suwayomi/.local/share/Tachidesk, so mount a volume there. Logs stream to stdout for docker logs. One caution: H2 corrupts more easily on unclean shutdowns, so stop the container properly and consider Postgres for large libraries.

Where Suwayomi stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.local/share/Tachidesk

server.conf plus H2 database, downloads, extensions, and logs. Override with the rootDir startup flag. Mount persistently in Docker; stop cleanly to protect the H2 database.

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Tachidesk

Same layout under Local app data. Set tray and browser-open flags false for server-style use. Postgres connection fields live in server.conf when you outgrow H2.

Frequently asked questions

how do i migrate suwayomi to a new machine

Copy the whole data directory (server.conf, database, downloads, extensions) with the server stopped. Restore to the same path on the new host. Postgres users also dump that database; H2 users carry it inside the folder.

how do i run suwayomi headless in docker

Set server.systemTrayEnabled and server.initialOpenInBrowserEnabled to false in server.conf (or pass the equivalent -D flags). Delete server.conf to regenerate defaults if you corrupt it; the wiki keeps the reference copy.
