Where Are Terra Invicta Save Files Located?
Terra Invicta saves as JSON or gzipped files in Documents, and the compression toggle decides which set is live.
Last updated
Terra Invicta saves into Documents under My Games/TerraInvicta/Saves, in plain JSON or gzipped form depending on an in-game compression toggle. That toggle matters more than it looks: saves made compressed and uncompressed do not carry over to each other, so flipping it mid-campaign appears to wipe the list.
Nothing is actually lost when that happens. Flip the toggle back and the saves reappear. For editing, uncompressed JSON is the friendlier format, though late-game files run to hundreds of thousands of lines either way.
Where Terra Invicta stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\My Games\TerraInvicta\Saves
JSON or .gz per the compression setting. If saves vanish, check the toggle before panicking: each mode shows only its own files.
~/Library/Application Support/Pavonis Interactive/TerraInvicta/Saves
Mac path under Application Support with the same JSON/gz split. Copies move between Windows and Mac without conversion.
Frequently asked questions
My Terra Invicta saves disappeared. Are they gone?
Probably not. The compression toggle filters the visible list, so saves made with the other setting hide until you flip it back. Check both modes first.
Can I edit Terra Invicta saves?
Yes with compression off, since the files are plain JSON. Use a proper editor like Notepad++, back up first, and expect very large files late in a campaign.
