WISO Steuer stores each return as a Projektdatei inside a year versioned folder under Documents. Buhl names it Steuer, not WISO, which sends people looking in the wrong place. Each tax year gets its own Version folder, so last year files stay put after an upgrade. Open the old file in the new release and save to convert.
Windows and Mac share the same Documents layout since the 2016 Mac release. Back up the year folder before reinstalling. Tax data and Elster transfer receipts travel together in that file. Close WISO before copying the folder, and reopen through File Open on the new machine when file links differ. Finder may show a localized Documents name while Steuer stays fixed.
