Where Does WPS Office Store Config?
WPS Office config per OS with versioned paths, and the Linux file that fixes most breakage.
Last updated
WPS scatters config by platform and version. Linux centers on ~/.config/Kingsoft/Office.conf (INI with [6.0] sections; Flatpak under its app ID) with data in ~/.local/share/Kingsoft. Windows mixes HKCU Kingsoft registry with Roaming cfgs and templates; Mac uses Kingsoft application support plus a preferences plist.
Version numbers embed in paths and registry, so .reg exports need search replace across majors, and cloud sync can overwrite hand copies (close all processes first). Linux hardcodes data home in some builds, breaking Flatpak backup dialogs; the Office.conf backup path key is the lever. Templates live per OS under kingsoft/office6/templates variants.
Where WPS Office stores this, by platform
~/.config/Kingsoft/Office.conf
Main INI config ($XDG_CONFIG_HOME respected; Flatpak in ~/.var/app/com.wps.Office/config). Data and auto recovery in ~/.local/share/Kingsoft. Deleting Office.conf resets login and corruption issues.
%APPDATA%\Kingsoft\WPS Office\[version]\office6\cfgs\
Interface configs plus templates (version embedded; Documents and Roaming variants by build). UI settings also in HKCU\Software\Kingsoft registry. Close all processes before copying.
~/Library/Application Support/Kingsoft/WPS Office/
Configs and templates (~/Library/Application Support/kingsoft/office6/templates). Prefs plist com.kingsoft.wps plus Caches and Saved State for full uninstall.
Frequently asked questions
WPS on Linux is broken after an update. How do I reset it?
Delete ~/.config/Kingsoft/Office.conf (Flatpak: the app ID variant) and relaunch. Login and corruption states clear; data backups under ~/.local/share survive.
Where are WPS templates stored?
Per OS kingsoft/office6/templates trees (Roaming on Windows, Application Support on Mac, ~/.config on Linux). Match the exact variant on your install; builds disagree.
