Where Does ZArchiver Save Archives?

ZArchiver saves new archives to its own folder under Android/data, with extraction wherever you choose.

Last updated

ZArchiver extracts wherever you point it but creates new archives in its own folder under Android/data by default. That asymmetry confuses everyone once: extractions land beside the source, while fresh zips hide in the app's directory.

If a new archive seems missing, look in Internal storage, Android, data, ru.zdevs.zarchiver, files, Archive. For Android/data browsing generally, ZArchiver leans on root or Shizuku access, configurable under Settings, ROOT. Grant it once and file operations stop failing silently.

Where ZArchiver stores this, by platform

Android
Internal storage/Android/data/ru.zdevs.zarchiver/files/Archive/

Default home for newly created archives. Extractions default beside the source archive instead. Enable Shizuku or root under Settings > ROOT for full Android/data access on Android 11 and up.

Frequently asked questions

I created a ZIP in ZArchiver but can't find it. Where is it?

Check Internal storage, Android, data, ru.zdevs.zarchiver, files, Archive. New archives default there, not beside the source files. Pick a different destination in the create dialog next time.

Why can't ZArchiver access Android/data folders?

Scoped storage blocks it by default on modern Android. Grant Shizuku or root access in Settings, ROOT, Type of root access. Without that, browsing other apps' data folders fails.
