Where Are AfterBeat Save Files Located?

AfterBeat keeps both settings and progress in a settings folder inside its Steam install directory, an unusual place for a rhythm game.

Last updated

AfterBeat, the game formerly known as Project Arrhythmia, stores its data inside the install directory: <SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Afterbeat\settings. Both the config and the save files live in that one folder, which is unusual for a Steam game and risky during an uninstall.

Steam installs the folder as Afterbeat with a lowercase b, while the store title capitalizes the B. The 1.0 update left early access and launched under the new name on October 8, 2026. Steam Cloud is listed, so a reinstall can restore the folder, but keep your own copy if you have custom levels or a long-running save.

Where Afterbeat (Project Arrhythmia) stores this, by platform

Holds both settings and save data. The install folder is Afterbeat with a lowercase b. Copy it before uninstalling or moving the library.

Frequently asked questions

Where are AfterBeat saves on PC?

In <SteamLibrary>\steamapps\common\Afterbeat\settings. The folder holds settings and saves together, so there is no separate AppData directory to look for.

Why are the saves inside the install folder?

Vitamin Games writes both config and progress to a settings directory beside the executable. Steam does not separate user data from game files for this title, so the install folder is also your save folder.

Will uninstalling AfterBeat delete my progress?

Steam removes the install directory, and the settings folder goes with it. Steam Cloud may restore it on the next install, but copy the folder first if the save matters.

What is the install folder called?

Steam installs it as Afterbeat, with a lowercase b, even though the store title is AfterBeat. The difference matters when you type the path by hand or search for the folder.
