Where Are Against the Storm Save Files Located?
Against the Storm files layered saves in a LocalLow folder, with Game Pass builds adding a redirected backup scheme.

Eremite layers saves by scope: settlement runs, world map state, and meta progression each get their own .sav with backups beside them. Steam, GOG, and Epic share one LocalLow folder, so installs interchange freely.
Game Pass breaks the simplicity with Xbox redirection into an xgs package plus auto backups back in LocalLow. The developers document the whole dance including the cloud unreliability that motivated it. Support requests want the entire folder zipped, all layers included.

Frequently asked questions
Can I move Steam progress to Game Pass?
Manually copy between the Steam folder and the xgs DefaultProfile, matching Save.sav, WorldSave.sav, and MetaSave.sav plus backups. The structures differ by design, so expect fiddling rather than drag and drop.
Do Game Pass saves get local backups?
Yes, in an Against the Storm Auto Backup folder beside the main one. The game second guesses Xbox cloud sync and keeps local copies when the cloud misbehaves. Check there before declaring a cycle lost.
