Where Are Kingdoms and Castles Save Files Located?
Kingdoms and Castles spans three OS Unity trees with a Saves folder on each, plus Steam and GOG clouds over all of them.
Last updated
Kingdoms and Castles ships natively on three systems, and each follows its Unity convention. Windows uses LocalLow, Mac uses its Application Support Unity folder, and Linux uses the XDG tree. A Saves folder sits in each.
Cross platform moves are straight copies with slashes swapped. Steam Cloud and GOG Galaxy mirror the same trees, so hands off syncing works until it does not. Manual copies before reinstalls or major updates remain the safe habit on every OS.
Where Kingdoms and Castles stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\LionShield\Kingdoms and Castles\Saves
Kingdoms in the Saves subfolder. Paste the path into Explorer. The tree appears after the first save.
~/Library/Application Support/unity.LionShield.Kingdoms and Castles/Saves
Same tree on Mac under the Unity Application Support folder. Copy across with the game closed on both ends.
~/.config/unity3d/LionShield/Kingdoms and Castles/Saves
Same tree on Linux under the XDG config path. Mirrors the other systems with forward slashes.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Kingdoms and Castles saves to a new PC?
Copy the Saves folder to the same path on the new machine with the game closed. Kingdoms travel in it on every OS. Cloud mirrors exist, but the folder copy is exact.
Where is the Kingdoms and Castles settings file?
Look for the settings file beside Saves in the same folder on your OS. Edit while closed. The in game menu covers the same options for most players.
