Where Does AlReader Store Books and Profiles?
AlReader book folders, profiles and OPDS catalogs on Android and Windows.
Last updated
AlReader is deliberately thin: it opens fiction files (fb2, epub, mobi, txt, html, doc and friends, including ZIP and GZ archives) in place and remembers positions, bookmarks and four display profiles per book. Your folders are the library.
Network libraries extend it without local copies. OPDS catalogs browse remote collections and download on demand. Dictionaries (Dict, Lingvo, SlovoEd) and hyphenation templates are add on files beside the app. With no account and no sync, moving phones means moving files plus an export of settings.
Where AlReader stores this, by platform
Device storage or SD card (books stay in your folders)
Opens from any folder, including SD cards on Android 11+ via the storage permission fix builds. Profiles hold font, color, brightness and gamma per mode. Recently opened list and bookmarks live in app data.
Program folder and books wherever you keep them
Classic Win32 build reads from any Windows folder, including network shares. Skins, hyphenation templates and dictionary packs sit beside the exe. Copy the folder for a portable move between PCs.
Frequently asked questions
does AlReader copy books into its own folder
No. It reads them in place from device storage, SD card or Windows folders, so organize with a file manager or calibre. OPDS downloads land in your normal download location unless you move them.
how do I transfer AlReader to a new phone
Copy the book folders over, reinstall AlReader, and reopen titles to rebuild positions. Export profiles and settings first if the build offers it. Anonymous open book stats stay behind by design.
