Where Does BookFusion Store Books and Highlights?
BookFusion cloud library, offline downloads and Calibre sync across devices.
Last updated
BookFusion is cloud first. Uploads, shelves, series, tags, progress, highlights and bookmarks sync across Android, iOS and web from your account. The phone holds a cache plus whatever you marked for offline reading, not the master library.
Calibre users get a bridge. The BookFusion Calibre plugin syncs metadata, custom columns, series and updated EPUB or PDF files to the cloud, so the desktop library stays the source while devices read copies. Extra formats (AZW, DJVU, FB2, DOCX and more) must arrive through the web app before mobile sees them.
Where BookFusion stores this, by platform
App-private storage (offline downloads you marked)
Cloud library streams by default; downloads persist per book for offline. Highlights export to CSV, Markdown, HTML or PDF. Send to Kindle moves the next read to the e-ink device in one tap.
App sandbox (offline downloads you marked)
Same cloud model, with widgets for last read and multi window on iPad. Open With hands a book to another iOS reader without lock in. Account sign in is required for sync to work at all.
Frequently asked questions
are my BookFusion books on my phone or in the cloud
Both, with the cloud as master. Streamed titles fetch on demand; downloaded ones stay in app storage for offline. Deleting the app without sync removes unsynced uploads, so check the web library first.
how does Calibre sync with BookFusion
Install the BookFusion Calibre plugin on the desktop, then push metadata and files to your cloud shelves. Series, tags and custom columns travel with the books. Incremental EPUB and PDF updates overwrite the cloud copy.
