Where Are Android eSIM Profiles Stored?

eSIM profiles live on the secure element with API-only access. Settings flow and transfer notes.

Last updated

eSIM profiles live on the eUICC secure element, not in files. Android manages them API-only through the EuiccManager calls behind Settings, Network, SIMs. Adding means scanning the carrier QR, switching means tapping the profile, deleting means confirming in the same screen.

No file manager path reaches the keys by design. Guides naming a data/misc file confuse Wi-Fi and keystore trees with the secure element. Transfers run carrier-side: convert or re-download on the new phone rather than copying anything. Screenshots of QR codes need the same care as passwords.

Where Android eSIM stores this, by platform

Android

Managed only through Settings add, switch and erase flows plus carrier QR codes. No extractable file exists; misc data trees hold unrelated stores. Move service with carrier transfer or fresh QR on the new device.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy an eSIM to a new phone with files?

No. Profiles bind to the secure element and move through carrier transfer or QR reissue. Back up nothing; instead keep carrier login access so re-downloads work. Delete the old profile only after the new one connects.

Where is the eSIM data file on Android?

There is none reachable. The EuiccManager API mediates every operation and exposes no raw store. File paths in misc trees belong to Wi-Fi and keystore subsystems, not to eSIM keys.

How do I delete an eSIM profile?

From Settings, Network, SIMs, select the profile and choose erase. That wipes the element slot on device; the carrier subscription itself needs separate cancellation. Confirm network loss before traveling.
