Where Does Apple Container Store Images and Volumes?
Apple Container keeps images, containers, volumes, and kernels under com.apple.container in Application Support. Full layout inside.

Apple's container tool stores everything under one Application Support directory: image content, container state, volumes, networks, kernels, and builder data. The CLI talks to helpers over XPC, but the files all sit in that one tree.
Older releases scattered a few paths, notably a dot-build directory that became builder in version 0.6. After upgrading, check for the stale folder before assuming the tool itself is eating new space. The disk-usage command reports each store separately.
Where Apple Container stores this, by platform
~/Library/Application Support/com.apple.container
Holds content, containers, volumes, networks, kernels, snapshots, state.json, and builder. Override with the app-root option on container system start. Registry credentials stay in the macOS keychain, not here.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Apple Container storage off a full disk?
Stop the service, then start it with the app-root option pointing elsewhere. Use an APFS volume; other formats cause subtle failures.
How do I reclaim disk from Apple Container?
Run container system df to see usage by images, containers, and volumes. If you upgraded past 0.6, a leftover .build directory can be deleted since content moved to builder.
