Where Does ArcaneChat Store Accounts and Chats?

ArcaneChat keeps Delta Chat accounts and encrypted mail in app-private storage on the device.

Last updated

ArcaneChat is a Delta Chat client, so accounts, keys, and message history live in the app's private database on the device. Mail itself also sits on your email server via IMAP.

That dual home splits the backup story. Server mail rebuilds on any client, but keys and local state travel only through device backups. Export the backup from settings deliberately; the file it produces is the portable copy of everything local.

Where ArcaneChat stores this, by platform

Android
App-private database; in-app backup export

Accounts, keys, and history live here, invisible to file managers. Export the in-app backup for migration; server mail rebuilds separately through IMAP.

Frequently asked questions

Do my chats survive a new phone?

Accounts, contacts, and history return with an encrypted device backup. Anything never backed up dies with the phone, since the mail server holds copies only of what IMAP syncs.
