Where Does ArmorPaint Store Projects?
ArmorPaint keeps textures in project files you save, with settings in the standard config dir.
Last updated
ArmorPaint projects live in files you save yourself, on every platform it runs on. Layers, materials, and undo history resolve to the project file; exported PNGs are deliverables.
Settings and brushes live in the standard config directory per platform. Reinstalling loses preferences but never saved projects. Keep the project as the original and the export as output; the two serve different purposes.

Project files (location you choose at save)
Texture projects in files you choose. Export PNGs for engines, but archive the project file as the editable original.
~/.config/armorpaint/
Preferences and brushes under the config home. Projects live wherever saved; this folder holds settings only. If this folder is absent, check Documents for an ArmorPaint data folder instead; portable and store builds vary.
Frequently asked questions
How do I keep an editable copy of my textures?
Save the project file first, then export textures. The project stays editable while exports serve engines; keep both, since re-editing from an export loses layers.
