Where Does Backbone Save Captures and Clips?
Backbone captures save to the Backbone app library and your camera roll in 1080p60. Smart Record keeps the last 15 seconds on iOS.
Last updated
Backbone recordings start in the Backbone app, not in your system gallery. A press of the dedicated capture button records gameplay at 1080p60, and the clip lands in the app library for trimming into highlights. Machine-learning highlight suggestions flag the busy moments so editing takes seconds.
Copies also flow to the camera roll, which is the practical backup. Smart Record mode on iOS goes further: it buffers continuously and keeps the last 15 seconds on a long press. Android lacks that mode for now, so Android users record the old-fashioned way and trim afterward.

App library plus camera roll copies. Check DCIM or Pictures for the shared copies. Smart Record buffering is iOS only; Android records standard clips.

Clips appear in the Backbone app library and the Photos camera roll. Long-press capture saves screenshots. A Backbone Plus subscription gates some editing and cloud features.
Frequently asked questions
How do I save the last 15 seconds?
Open the Backbone app, go to Settings, then the Captures tab, and switch Recording Mode to Smart Record. Press capture once to arm it, then long-press to keep the previous 15 seconds. The button glows yellow while armed.
What does the capture button do?
Single press records video, long press takes a screenshot by default. Flashback recording and the editing tools need the controller connected and, for some features, a Backbone Plus subscription. Clips also copy to the camera roll for sharing outside the app.
