Where Are Ballionaire Save Files Located?

Ballionaire save folder for this Godot roguelike on Windows and Linux, and the folder-name case trap on Deck.

Last updated

Ballionaire runs on Godot, which ignores every Unity and Unreal convention. Saves go to a Godot app-data folder inside Roaming on Windows, under a lowercase ballionaire name. Most players look in Local or Documents first and find nothing.

Mind the capitalization across platforms. Windows uses lowercase ballionaire while the Linux override uses capital Ballionaire. Copying between PC and Deck means renaming to match, or the game starts fresh beside your transferred files.

Where Ballionaire stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\ballionaire

Cloud-synced files use the .cloud.sav extension. Folder name is lowercase here, which differs from the Linux path below.

Linux
~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Ballionaire

Native Linux path with capital B in Ballionaire. Rename the folder to match when copying saves between Windows and Deck.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my transferred Ballionaire save not load?

Check the folder case. Windows expects lowercase ballionaire and Linux expects capital Ballionaire. A mismatched name makes the game create a fresh folder next to yours.

Which Ballionaire files do I back up?

Everything in the app_userdata folder, especially the .cloud.sav files. They are small, so zipping the whole folder is the simplest reliable backup.
