Where Are BallisticNG Save Files Located?
BallisticNG keeps saves and config inside its install tree, with campaign ghosts plus stats split across subfolders.
Last updated
BallisticNG ignores modern save conventions entirely. Everything lives in a User folder inside the install directory: Save for progress split by campaign, ghosts, and stats, Config for settings, Mods for community content.
That install relative layout makes the game trivially portable and cloud independent. Copy the User folder between machines and racing continues. GOG and Steam clouds mirror the same tree for convenience, but the folder copy remains the complete one.
Where BallisticNG stores this, by platform
<BallisticNGInstall>\User\Save
Campaign progress, ghosts, and stats in subfolders here. Find the install folder first, then open User inside it. Copy with the game closed.
<BallisticNGInstall>\User\Config
Settings and controller mappings beside the saves. Copy the whole User tree so config travels too.
<BallisticNGInstall>/User/Save
Same install relative tree on Linux. GOG builds nest it under a game subfolder, so check both spots on your install.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move BallisticNG saves to a new PC?
Copy the User folder to the same relative spot in the new install with the game closed. Campaign, ghosts, stats, and config travel together. Cloud mirrors exist, but the folder copy is exact.
Where do BallisticNG mods go?
Drop ship, track, and music files into the matching User\Mods subfolders, then import them in game. Workshop items copy the same way by hand. Keep mods in descriptive subfolders so updates never mix them.
