Where Does Blue Recorder Save Recordings?

Blue Recorder saves recordings to Videos by default with preferences in the standard config dir.

Last updated

Blue Recorder writes screen recordings to the Videos folder unless told otherwise. Preferences, area presets, and encoder settings live separately in the config directory.

Raw captures are large, which makes the save location the first thing to configure. Point it at spacious storage before a long session rather than after the disk fills. Config migrates by copying the config folder; recordings migrate as ordinary video files.

Where Blue Recorder stores this, by platform

Linux
~/Videos (default Blue Recorder captures)

Default capture folder for recordings. Change it in preferences before long sessions; raw footage fills disks fast.

Linux
~/.config/blue-recorder/

Preferences and presets live here. If this folder is absent, the app may be running portably; check its About page. Copy for migration.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change where recordings save?

Open preferences and set the output folder before recording. The default Videos location fills fast with raw footage, so point it at a roomy drive.
