Where Does Bomi Store Settings and Playlists?

Where the Bomi media player keeps settings, playlists and history on Linux for backup and moves.

Last updated

Bomi keeps settings, playlists, subtitle preferences and playback history in a config folder under home. The player descends from CMPlayer, so upgraded machines can hold leftovers under the old name beside the new one.

Copy the live folder with the player closed for migration. Playlist files travel as plain text inside, easy to share singly. Cache and thumbnails rebuild on demand, so leave them out of small backups.

Where Bomi stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/bomi

Settings and playlists in one config folder; old CMPlayer name can linger beside it. Close the player before copying. Cache rebuilds on demand.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Bomi playlists?

Close Bomi and copy its config folder elsewhere. Settings, playlists and history travel together. Restoring means dropping it back before launch on the new machine.

My Bomi settings reset. Where do I look?

Open Preferences inside Bomi and confirm the config location. Older CMPlayer era installs used a different folder name, so check both spots on upgraded machines. The dialog always shows the live path.
