Where Does CommaFeed Store Feeds and Its Database?
CommaFeed keeps feeds and articles in a mounted data volume with H2 embedded by default and Postgres as the upgrade path.
Last updated
CommaFeed persists everything in one host-mounted data volume. Users, feeds, and articles sit in the embedded H2 database inside it by default. The volume mount is the entire backup story.
Postgres variants trade the embedded file for a connection string. Either way the compose file plus the data volume reproduce the instance. Serve the web UI from port 8082 behind your usual reverse proxy.
Where CommaFeed stores this, by platform
/path/to/commafeed/data:/commafeed/data (plus port 8082)
Data volume holds the embedded H2 database with feeds and users. Postgres tags use an external database instead. Move means copying the host folder.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move CommaFeed to a new server?
Copy the data host folder to the new machine. Feeds, users, and read state live in the embedded database there. Point the new compose file at the copy and start.
H2 or PostgreSQL for CommaFeed?
Switch the image tag from the H2 variant to the Postgres one and point it at your database. The embedded H2 suits small instances; Postgres gives control over backups and scaling.
