Where Does CouchPotato Store Data and Movies?
Which Docker volumes hold the CouchPotato database, config and movies, and how to migrate them.
Last updated
CouchPotato stores nothing fixed on the host. Your compose file maps host folders into the container for data (settings, database, caches) and movies (finished downloads). The host side reflects your setup choices.
Read the volumes section before touching anything. A common layout keeps data and movies folders beside the compose file. Back up with the container stopped; the database writes during searches and renames, so live copies restore stale.
Where CouchPotato stores this, by platform
/opt/couchpotato/data
Host folders mapped in compose to container data and movies. Common parent is user chosen. Stop the container before copying the database.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up CouchPotato?
Stop the container and copy the host folders mapped to data and movies plus your compose file. Settings and history live in data, films in movies. Keep both halves for a working restore.
My CouchPotato paths differ from examples. Why?
Open your docker-compose.yml and read the volumes lines. Those host paths are the real locations on your machine. Examples show common layouts; your file shows the live one.
