Where Does SickChill Store Config and Downloads?

Which Docker volumes hold the SickChill database, config and downloads, and how to back them up.

Last updated

SickChill stores nothing fixed on the host. Your compose file maps host folders into the container for config (database, caches, logs) and downloads (finished episodes). The host side is whatever you typed during setup.

Read the volumes section first. A common layout keeps a config folder and a downloads folder beside the compose file. Back up both with the container stopped; the SQLite database dislikes live copies while snatching runs.

Where SickChill stores this, by platform

Linux
/opt/sickchill/config

Host folders mapped in compose to container config and downloads. Common parent is user chosen, often under opt or srv. Stop the container before copying.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up SickChill?

Stop the container and copy the host folders mapped to config and downloads plus your compose file. The database and caches live in config, episodes in downloads. One half alone restores poorly.

My SickChill paths differ from guides. Which is correct?

Open your docker-compose.yml and read the volumes lines. Those host paths are the real locations on your machine. Container paths stay constant while host paths vary per install.
