Where Does DaisyDisk Store Settings and Cache?
DaisyDisk keeps preferences in standard macOS locations and rescans disks live, so there is no database to back up.
Last updated
DaisyDisk holds almost no state. Preferences and license info sit in the usual Library spots, and every scan rebuilds its map from the live disk. There is no index file growing stale in the background.
That makes cleanup trivial and also limits what troubleshooting can do. Clearing its folders resets preferences only. A wrong disk reading is a permissions or mounting issue, never a corrupt DaisyDisk database.
Where DaisyDisk stores this, by platform
~/Library/Application Support/DaisyDisk
Support files if present on your build, with preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/com.daisydiskapp.DaisyDisk.plist. Scan results are never stored; each run reads the disk fresh. If folder names differ, sort by date after launching.
Frequently asked questions
does daisydisk keep a database of my disk
No. Every scan reads the filesystem live, which is why results always match reality. The only persistent files are preferences and license state.
how do i reset daisydisk settings
Quit the app and remove its preferences plist plus the Application Support folder. Relaunching starts clean without affecting any disk contents.
