Where Does DefleMask Save DMF Projects?
DefleMask saves .dmf songs where you choose, with crash backups beside the executable and config in its folder.
Last updated
DefleMask keeps song saving manual. File Save writes a .dmf to the folder you pick. Presets (.dmp) and wavetables (.dmw) work the same way. There is no central library, so project organization is up to you.
Two helper files matter. config.ini sits beside the program and holds window and audio settings. A crash backup named backup.dmf appears in the executable folder. Grab that file first after a crash before saving anything new.
Where DefleMask stores this, by platform
User chosen folder for .dmf files
Portable layout. config.ini and backup.dmf sit beside DefleMask.exe. Associate .dmf by running once as admin on older Windows if double click fails.
User chosen folder for .dmf files
Same manual save model. Keep songs outside the app bundle. Config sits with the unpacked program folder, not in Library.
User chosen folder for .dmf files
Same layout as other desktops. File associations need manual setup. Back up the whole project folder including .dmp and .dmw files.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the DefleMask crash backup?
Look for backup.dmf in the folder holding the DefleMask executable. Copy it elsewhere and rename it before reopening the app. That file holds the last edited module before the crash.
What files make up a DefleMask song?
The .dmf module plus optional .dmp presets and .dmw wavetables if you saved them separately. ROM, VGM, and WAV exports are outputs. Keep the .dmf as the master.
