Where Are Diaro Backups Stored?

Diaro writes manual backup files to a Diaro backup folder on shared storage. Copy them off the phone so a lost device takes nothing with it.

Last updated

Diaro keeps its live database inside the app, where no file browser can reach it. The supported way out is a manual backup: Settings, Data, Backup and restore, tap the plus icon, and the app writes a dated backup file to its own folder on shared storage.

That file is yours to protect. The app even nudges you to upload it to Dropbox. Copy backups to cloud storage or a computer after writing them, since a backup sitting only on the phone disappears with the phone.

Created from Settings, Data, Backup and restore with the plus icon. Files here are dated snapshots. Upload each one to Dropbox or copy it to a computer, since phone only storage is not a backup.

Frequently asked questions

How do I restore a Diaro backup?

Open Settings, Data, Backup and restore, then open the SD card tab and tap the file name. Confirm the restore and choose whether to merge or replace. Do this with sync paused so Dropbox does not immediately overwrite your choice.

Manual backup or Dropbox sync?

Manual files are full snapshots you control, while Dropbox sync mirrors day to day changes. Keep both: scheduled manual backups for disaster recovery, sync for moving between devices.
