Where Are DOOM Eternal Save Files Located?

DOOM Eternal splits its data: settings live in Saved Games while actual saves sit in Steam userdata under autosave folders.

Last updated

Eternal keeps two homes and guides routinely mix them up. Configuration and key binds live in Saved Games under id Software. The campaign saves themselves live in Steam userdata under app ID 782330, sorted into per slot autosave folders with a profile folder beside them.

Bethesda.net copies differ again, keeping saves as files under the Saved Games tree instead. For Steam players the rule is simple: settings in Saved Games, progress in userdata. Back up both and no reinstall, mod experiment, or Slayer redesign costs anything.

Where DOOM Eternal stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[your ID]\782330\remote

Campaign progress sits in GAME-AUTOSAVE folders with a PROFILE folder beside them. Settings and binds live separately in Saved Games\id Software\DOOMEternal\base.

Linux
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/782330/pfx/

Steam Play prefix for app 782330 with the same split inside. Config stays under drive_c/users/steamuser/Saved Games/id Software/DOOMEternal/base.

Frequently asked questions

How do I carry settings into a modded profile?

Copy DOOMEternalConfig.cfg from the DOOMEternal folder into the DOOMSandbox folder beside it. Modded profiles start at defaults otherwise, and the copy restores binds and video settings in one move.

Can I change my customized Slayer mid campaign?

The PROFILE folder holds your customized Slayer. Delete it, return to the main menu, and recustomize to generate a fresh one. Campaign saves in the autosave folders survive the swap untouched.
