Where Are Dying Light: The Beast Save Files Located?

Dying Light: The Beast save folders on Steam and Epic, plus the automatic backup folder that can rescue a corrupted run.

Last updated

Dying Light: The Beast keeps saves in two different places depending on the store. The Steam build stores them inside its userdata folder under app ID 3008130, while the Epic build uses a folder inside Documents. Both support cloud saves, so the local files and the cloud copy can disagree after a crash.

The useful surprise is the automatic backup folder in Documents. The game writes backup saves to out-save_backups on both stores, so a corrupted active save is often recoverable without any third party tools. Copy backups before you need them, since Steam Cloud can overwrite a good local file with a bad cloud one.

Where Dying Light: The Beast stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[Steam ID]\3008130\remote\out\save

The [Steam ID] folder is your numeric Steam account ID. Your game settings live one level up in remote\out\profiles. The Epic Games build ignores this path entirely and uses the Documents folder described in the FAQ.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/3008130/pfx

Same userdata ID and save subfolder layout as Windows. Find your Steam library's steamapps folder, then step into compatdata\3008130\pfx to reach the virtual Windows drive the game sees.

Frequently asked questions

how do i back up my dying light the beast saves

Copy the whole 3008130 folder with the game closed. That preserves the profile and every save slot. On Epic, copy the out folder under Documents instead.

my save is corrupted, can the backup folder fix it

Open Documents\dying light the beast\out-save_backups and copy a recent file into your active save folder. On Steam that folder is userdata\3008130\remote\out\save. Rename it to match the file it replaces.
