Where Do ENB Presets Store Their Files?
ENB presets live as enbseries.ini and enblocal.ini beside the game executable, with shaders and textures in an enbseries folder.
Last updated
ENB configuration sits directly in the game folder, which is why preset installs are drag and drop. The enbseries.ini file carries the visual preset (effects, strengths, weathers), enblocal.ini carries machine-specific choices (resolution scaling, memory, FPS limiter), and the enbseries folder holds shaders and textures.
That split matters for sharing. Preset authors publish the ini files plus the folder; downloaders keep their own enblocal.ini rather than overwriting it. Deleting the injector DLLs disables ENB instantly while leaving the preset files in place for later.
Where ENB stores this, by platform
[GameFolder]\enbseries.ini
Beside the game .exe (or the launcher-set binary for games with separate launchers). enbseries.ini is the look, enblocal.ini is your machine. Remove the d3d DLLs to disable without deleting the preset.
[GameFolder]/enbseries.ini
Same game-directory layout inside the Proton prefix for Steam installs. The preset files are plain text, so Windows presets apply unchanged; only the injector setup differs.
Frequently asked questions
What do I back up before reinstalling a game with ENB?
Back up enbseries.ini, enblocal.ini, and the enbseries folder from the game directory. The binary injector files (d3d11.dll and friends) reinstall from the ENB download, but your tuned ini files do not.
The preset looks wrong or tanks performance. What first?
Turn off any bundled performance options in the in-game menu first, since ENB replaces the game's own post-processing. Most preset conflicts trace back to both pipelines running at once.
