Where Does FBNeo Store Config and Saves?
Standalone FBNeo keeps config.ini, per-game inputs in config/games, and support files (EEPROM, hiscores, cheats) in folders beside the exe.
Last updated
Standalone FBNeo organizes support files by category in folders you choose, defaulting beside the executable. The config folder holds the main ini plus per-game input files. Support folders hold EEPROM saves, high scores, cheats, and samples separately.
That separation keeps arcade state manageable across hundreds of ROMs. EEPROM folders preserve machine memory like high scores; the hiscore.dat enables saving where the hardware allows. Point the support dialog at a ROMs folder once and the library resolves itself.
Where FBNeo stores this, by platform
[FBNeo-Folder]\config
Main ini plus per-game input files in the games subfolder. Support folders (EEPROM, hiscores, cheats, samples) default beside the exe and re-point through the support-path dialog.
[FBNeo-Folder]/config
Same exe-relative layout for SDL builds on Linux. NVRAM corruption (Konami games are notorious) fixes by deleting that game's files from the EEPROM folder.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change where FBNeo looks for files?
Open the support-path dialog and point each category where you want it. ROMs, EEPROM saves, hiscore.dat, and cheats each get their own folder, and the dialog writes the choices into the config.
Controller settings reset for one game only. Why?
Delete the game's ini under config/games to fall back to the default preset. Per-game input files override the global preset, so stale ones explain settings that refuse to stick.
